Rates and billing

What is a typical hourly rate for a private jet?

Before tax and fees, US charter typically runs $1,800 to $3,200 an hour for a turboprop, $3,500 to $5,500 for a light jet, $4,500 to $7,000 for a midsize, $6,500 to $9,500 for a super-midsize, $8,500 to $13,000 for a large cabin and $12,000 to $20,000 or more for ultra long range.

Which hours appear on the bill?

Billed hours combine flight time, taxi time (as block time or a fixed allowance), any repositioning flown empty, and daily minimums where the flying falls short of them.

How big is a daily minimum?

Commonly one to two hours per day, depending on the operator and the size of the aircraft. It applies on short flights and on days when the aircraft waits for you.

What does repositioning add?

Whatever the empty flying takes, at the same hourly rate. An aircraft based an hour away can add two hours to a one-way trip: one to reach you and one to get home.

What taxes apply?

On domestic US trips, the 7.5% federal excise tax on transportation and a segment fee of about $5 per passenger per leg. International trips carry foreign taxes and fees instead. Every quote we send includes them.

Booking

Do I have to join anything to get prices?

No sign-up, membership or deposit is needed. You ask, you compare, and you only pay once a charter agreement for a specific flight is signed.

Are jet cards cheaper than charter?

Sometimes, for frequent flyers. Cards fix an hourly rate in advance but usually add peak-day surcharges and minimums of their own. For occasional trips, an on-demand quote for the real itinerary is the cleaner comparison.

Can my pets fly with me?

Many operators accept them if asked in advance. Tell us what kind of animal and how many, and only aircraft whose operator agrees will be quoted.

Operators

Who flies the aircraft?

An air carrier certificated under FAA Part 135, or its foreign equivalent abroad. Jet Cost per Hour arranges the trip as a broker; the carrier has operational control and is named in your quote.

How are operators vetted?

We confirm the operating certificate, the aircraft details and crew duty time for your schedule, and we list third-party audit ratings such as ARGUS, Wyvern and IS-BAO where an operator holds them.
