Block time and flight time
Flight time is measured from takeoff to landing. Block time starts when the aircraft first moves under its own power and stops when it parks at the other end, so taxiing, holding for takeoff and de-icing all count. Operators bill one or the other, or flight time plus a fixed taxi allowance per leg, which is what the estimator assumes.
Daily minimums
Many operators charge a minimum number of hours for each day the aircraft is assigned to you, commonly one to two. On a 40-minute hop the minimum, not the clock, sets the price. On a stay of several nights the aircraft either waits, with a minimum for each day, or flies home and comes back, with repositioning both ways. Your advisor prices whichever is cheaper.
